The top eight teams from North America and Europe respectively have secured their spots in the HGC for 2017. However, there remains an opportunity for any brave souls who believe they are worthy to break into the big time through the Open Division. Here, teams will square off to prove their merit and compete for one of the eight coveted spots in their region’s professional league.

How it works

Teams of five will compete on alternating weeks for seven tournament cups per region, hosted by GosuGamers.

Points will be awarded to the top 16 teams in each tournament. These points will be tracked and on display at

After the first seven cups in each region, the 16 teams with the most points will be seeded and entered into a single-elimination playoffbracket.

Fight to survive

Twice a year, in the Crucible, the top two teams from the Open Division playoffs will challenge the bottom two pro teams from the HGC, whose spots in the HGC will be on the line. The first place team from the Open Division playoff will choose which of the two HGC teams on the chopping block they will face in their final test: a best-of-seven match for a spot in the next HGC phase.

Win your match in the Crucible and that’s it; your team is in the HGC!
